Curtin is investing strongly in ASDI and is seeking co-investment from State and Australian Governments, industry and business, and charitable foundations. The University primarily seeks investment in the building of enduring growth in its capacity to undertake sustainable development research and professional development. The University is seeking Governments and business co-investment in strategic areas identified by co-investors and the University.
The priority areas for investment in Signature Projects are detailed below. These projects have been developed from input from the Council Steering Committee, ASDI strategic planning, ASDI Executive group, Office of Research and Development and ASDI Leadership Group. The Signature Projects address the three core elements of the overall ASDI research plan, being the socioeconomic and environmental adaptation to climate change and development of advanced energy and future water technologies.
Signature Project 1: Adaptation to Climate Change – environmental and socioeconomic impacts of extreme weather systems and regional scale climate variability.
Signature Project 2: Advanced Energy Technologies and Efficiencies – Low carbon emission technology, improved renewable energy sources (biofuels, solar, geothermal), energy storage and efficient energy use.
Signature Project 3: Future Water Technologies - Water treatment and quality enhancement Technology and energy efficient, scalable desalination technologies.
