Sustainable development is now increasingly understood as an economic, national security and social change priority as it is an environmental priority by both government and business.
We are no longer able to provide singular solutions to complex issues that are facing us today in this area of economic development.
Multidisciplinary, integrated approaches are needed to solve complex problems facing the world today. To that end, Curtin University of Technology has formed the Australian Sustainable Development Institute to co-ordinate Curtin's research effort across multiple Centres and Institutes with a research capacity of over 100 staff.
The areas of sustainable research is broad and includes, energy policy, efficiency and technology; climate change adaptation and coastal development, water management, sustainable resources, regional development, Indigenous futures and community engagement, Asia partnerships, urban development and sustainable cities, information and infrastructure security and sustainable food.
We're working in partnership with industry and government agencies in developing integrated research solutions which lead to economic opportunities in the future.
